We read with great interest the letter by Chen et al. (1) in this issue of Diabetes and appreciated their insightful comments on our recent work (2). We are pleased that the authors recognized the clinical relevance of our findings, regarding the diverse interplay between insulin resistance and endogenous insulin secretion in individuals suffering from latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) and type 2 diabetes.
