1891-P: Real-World Performance of the MiniMed 780G Advanced Hybrid Closed-Loop System with the Newly Introduced Instinct Sensor in the United States

Introduction and Objective: The MiniMed™ 780G (MM780G) system (Medtronic Diabetes) integrated with the Instinct™ sensor (Abbott Diabetes Care) was recently launched in the United States (U.S.). Designed for use with MiniMed systems, the Instinct™ sensor provides another option for MM780G automated insulin delivery (AID), in addition to the Simplera Sync™ and Guardian™ 4 sensors. The present study evaluated early real-world performance of MM780G+Instinct use in the U.S.Methods: Instinct™ sensor use was enabled through firmware-over-the-air for real-world U.S. MM780G system users (470). Their deidentified CareLink™ data as of 30Nov2025 were analyzed and included system usage and glycemic metrics (e.g., mean sensor glucose [SG], the glucose management indicator, and time spent in [TIR], below [TBR], and above [TAR] SG ranges). Results: The MM780G+Instinct users demonstrated high sensor (97.5%) and high AHCL (94.1%) use (Table). Glycemic outcomes and the proportions achieving ADA-recommended targets are, also, shown. Users who transitioned from previous sensors maintained strong glycemic control after switching to the Instinct™ sensor. Conclusion: Overall glycemic outcomes were clinically similar to those observed in the MM780G+Simplera Sync pivotal study1 and MM780G+Simplera Sync real-world analysis2. Findings from this study suggest that MM780G+Instinct use continues to provide safe and effective glycemic control.
