1152-P: Cardiometabolic Insights—Findings from 1,014 Clinicians on Patient Support Programs for Metabolic Care—The BEST Survey

Introduction and Objective: Understanding physicians’ perceptions of Patient Support Programs (PSPs) is critical for optimizing their impact on patient engagement, adherence, and outcomes in metabolic care. PSPs aim to enhance cardio-metabolic care through features like personalized dietary guidance, self-management tools, affordability, and accessibility. This mapping exercise evaluates physicians’ perspectives to refine PSP design and implementation, ensuring they address diverse patient needs and improve long-term outcomes. Methods: The BEST survey (Better Engagement and Support for Therapeutic Journey) was conducted nationwide from November 14 to December 31, 2024. The survey used a secure digital platform to evaluate 10 PSP-related aspects via a 5-point Likert scale. Statistical analysis on GraphPad 10.4.1 defined a strong consensus as a weighted score above 100, providing insights into PSP effectiveness. Results: The mapping exercise included 1,014 cardio-metabolic experts with a cumulative 16,854 man-years of experience (mean: 17 years). Strong consensus emerged for several PSP features: personalized dietary guidance (score: 102.9), self-management tools (103.4), regional language accessibility (107.0), and medication affordability (100.4). Improved glycemic control (100.5), enhanced compliance and adherence (112.3), and encouragement of follow-up visits (102.2) highlighted the perceived effectiveness of PSPs in sustaining patient engagement and optimizing metabolic care. Mean response scores: agree 69±2.3 (95% CI 68-74), strongly agree 26±4.4 (95% CI 23-29). p<0.0001.Conclusion: The findings highlight a consensus on the effectiveness of PSPs in improving patient engagement, adherence, and glycemic control. Key priorities include personalized dietary guidance, self-management tools, regional language accessibility, and affordability, ensuring comprehensive and sustainable metabolic care.
